I’m from Cabo Verde and was educated here but then relocated to Portugal and hold a degree in Law from the University of Lisbon and a Post-Graduate in Commercial Law from the Universidade Catolica Portuguesa in Lisbon. I worked at a prestigious local firm in Lisbon for three years and then had a partnership opportunity to come back to Cabo Verde after three years in Portugal. The law office Carla Monteiro was born on October 2008 from the partnership with Alexandra Pereira, a lawyer in Portugal with over 25 years of proven experience in the areas of real estate law and assistance in the consolidation and development of tourism. I subsequently created my own law firm in Cabo Verde (CMA – Carla Monteiro & Associados, Law Firm, RL, in December 2015), which I started as a sole practitioner but have subsequently grown to five lawyers and three trainees.
